FIVE OF THE HAPPIEST HAPPY HOURS IN WAIKIKI

When it comes to happy hour, Waikiki is perhaps the spot to unwind—it’s just a matter of choosing where to go. After a major surf session or first surf lesson, an epic beach day or pau hana (after work), we suggest grabbing some friends for some good food and good drinks at one of five of our favorite happy hours in Waikiki.

BASALT
2255 Kuhio Ave.
3-6pm daily

Over at one of Waikiki’s latest and greatest market and eatery fusions you’ll find Basalt, an international and seasonal restaurant inside Duke’s Lane. The contemporary cuisine is a treat for breakfast, lunch and dinner, but our favorite is the happy hour, where you can get handcrafted cocktails (like the refreshing South Pacific Sangria), draft beers (Kona Brewing Co. included!), selects wines and small bites (even some exclusives) at a great price.

Who is ready for some Pau Hana?

BUHO
225o Kalakaua Ave., suite 525
2-6pm daily, 10pm-close Sunday through Thursday

Buho, one of Waikiki’s premier rooftop spaces, is the place to dine, drink and dance any day of the week. Expect a modern take on traditional Mexican cuisine, and an impressive happy hour. Before the sun sets, we recommend you wash down some Housemade Guacamole & Chips and Pork Belly Flautas ($6 each) with a House Margarita ($7) or a draft Dos Equis ($4). Then the real party begins.

HERRINGBONE WAIKIKI
International Marketplace, 2330 Kalakaua Ave.
4-6pm & 9pm-close daily

California coastal meets Waikiki at this restaurant on the Grand Lanai of the buzzy International Marketplace. Visitors and residents alike flock to Herringbone‘s bar and lounge for Oyster Hour—and for good reason: Oysters are just $2, the coveted Buffalo Octopus is only $11; select cocktails are $8; and Yellowtail Crudo, Furikake Fries, Puhlehu Steak, as well as wines and beers are also discounted.

MAHINA & SUN’S
412 Lewers St. (inside the Surfjack)
happy hour 2-6pm daily; all day & night for the industry (must show industry id)

We couldn’t go without mentioning Mahina & Sun’s, our in-house restaurant that highlights island-style ethical eats helmed by renown Honolulu chef Ed Kenney. The Pau Hana special at Mahina & Sun’s features the ever-popular Naked Pig Pizza (thin crust pizza, fromage blanc, bacon and Maui onion) and two Maui Brewing Co. beers. Other happy hour specials include classic cocktails for $7, $9 avocado tacos, $12 sliders and more. Click here for more info on some of our featured craft cocktails or follow along on Instagram

MAUI BREWING CO.
2300 Kalakaua Ave.
3:30-5:30pm & 10:30-close daily

This local brewery has been on the scene in Hawaii since 2005, but opened its doors to its third outpost in Waikiki in early 2017. Maui Brewing Co.’s welcomed addition is of course serving up its locally-brewed beers, but the food menu is also something to write home about. Inspired by the island lifestyle, this place is great for gathering with friends or family (especially during happy hour), where you’ll enjoy $2 off beers, $3 off select cocktails, 50% off select appetizers (like the mouthwatering MBC Nachos) and $10 pizzas.
