WHAT’S HAPPENING IN JANUARY

After all of the holiday hoopla, it’s a pretty mellow month here in Hawaii. Aside from our lineup of Surfjack experiences, here’s our go-to guide of what’s happening on Oahu this January.

JANUARY 3

G. Love in Concert
6-11pm at 2335 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu
G. Love will be performing just one show at 8pm, with Paula Fuga as an opener. Expect a high energy mashup of funky beats and songs written with their signature blend of Delta Blues, Hip Hop, Funk, Rock and Roll and Jazz. Tickets & more info

JANUARY 19

The Gift of Calligraphy Workshop
10am, da Shop: books + curiosities, 3565 Harding Ave., Honolulu
Join in on this two-hour workshop designed for complete beginners. Expect to be inspired and immerse you in the elegant art of calligraphy. Each guest will receive a personalized calligraphy kit which includes black and white ink, a calligraphy pen (a wooden holder and nib), a practice book black and white paper, and a signed copy of the book The Gift of Calligraphy: A Modern Approach to Hand Lettering with 25 Projects to Give and to Keep.  Tickets and more info

JANUARY 19

SALT Bar Crawl
5pm, 691 Auahi St., Honolulu
Sip on something new or order old faves at Village Bottle Shop & Tasting Room, Pitch Sports Bar and The Boiling Crab. The SALT Bar Crawl, continuing until closing times of the bars, also features entertainment, Butcher & Bird’s tasty food and more. INTO THE DEEP: Sound Bath & Meditation
6:30-8pm, Impact Hub Honolulu, 1050 Queen Street, Suite 100, Honolulu

Join international singer/songwriter, vocal shaman and sound weaver Lucie Lynch for an amazing song and sound experience. JANUARY 26

Peru: A Culinary Tour with Ceviche Tasting Menu from Chef Ed Kenney
5:30-7:30pm, private location, Honolulu
Join in on a culinary tour describing the history of Peru and highlight many of the modern day regional specialties and popular dishes. Participants will enjoy a tasting menu inspired by Peruvian classic dishes using local ingredients, prepared by chef Ed Kenney. The centerpiece will be Ed’s version of ceviche. JANUARY 26

Hawaii Beer Fest
6-9pm, Hawaii Convention Center, 1801 Kalakaua Ave., Honolulu
Ohana Broadcast Company and Kurious Productions present the Hawaii Beer Fest The Winter Edition, where you can sample over 100 craft and draft beer styles. The event will feature select international breweries, as well as national and local favorite beer brands and breweries. Expect a variety of food booths, retail booths, adult party games, as well as, exclusive samples of beers found locally only at the festival. The event will be hosted by DJs and Hitmixers from radio stations, 931 Da Pa’ina, 947 KUMU, 1027 Da Bomb and ALT 1059, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Rotary Club of Honolulu.  Tickets and more info

JANUARY 31

John Craigie

Enjoy the modern American sounds from this troubadour who’s toured with Hawaii’s beloved Jack Johnson and has been dubbed “the lovechild of John Prine and Mitch Hedberg,” by The Stranger. Tickets
