TUNE IN TO 1:11 ALOHA, AN EXCLUSIVE MIXTAPE WITH CARLOS NIñO

We teamed up with DJ, producer and musician (and so much more) Carlos Niño to create a mix exclusively for the Surfjack, 1:11 Aloha. “While on Oahu for a week in late January 2018, I listened to KTUH Honolulu Radio as I drove around everyday, and thought about what I would present if I had a show on the station. 1:11 Aloha is an example of how I was feeling,” says Carlos. “I can still feel the energy of the island. The mix is 71 minutes long, and 111 is considered an angel number, so I celebrated that in the title.”

Based in Los Angeles, Niño spins styles from around the world—from the 1960s to now—in some of the best venues, clubs, theaters, restaurants, galleries, museums, private events, and hotels. He’s been a part of the independent music scene since the mid ’90s, touring throughout the U.S., Japan and Europe. In 1999, he co-founded dublab, a non-profit radio station dedicated to the growth of music, arts and culture. Currently, he spins and also runs the music program for MTN Venice and Moon Juice.

Needless to say, we’re thrilled to harness Carlos’ creative genius to produce this masterful mix, which he describes as “easy, flowing, relaxed, full of love and high vibrational spirit.”

Carlos wants to give special thanks to DJ Godiva, The Surfjack, Aloha Got Soul, Nicole Ramos, Jesse Peterson, Kelsey Lee, Tim O’Hanlon, DJ Vinyl Don, Psychemagik, Dagon’s Tea Leaf Salad, Down To Earth Market, ‘Ai Love Nalo, and Iasos.
