Just recently, we sat down with a group of Los Angeles-based lady bosses and one badass guy to talk business. The group traveled to Hawaii on a mission: to share ideas and spark collaborations with fellow entrepreneurs. And with true team spirit (you know, the “together we achieve more” kind), they shared their creative process and findings with an all-ears audience right here at the Surfjack.

The creative crew—consisting of Iva Pawling, co-creator of Richer Poorer; Bobby Hundreds, co-creator of The Hundreds and Jennifer; Jen Gotch, founder and chief creative officer of Ban.do; Jeni Britton Bauer, founder of Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream and James Beard Award-winning author; Jaclyn Johnson, CEO of Create & Cultivate; and Ellen Bennett, founder and creative director of Hedley and Bennett—dished about the realities of starting a business, making it work and keeping it afloat.

And of course, before and after their talk story session they were busy finding inspiration of their own—by exploring all that the island has to offer.
